Your Guide, Your Wildling-in-Chief, Your Resident Free Spirit

If you ever wondered what happens when a kid grows up in a very strict religious home where the human body was treated like a top-secret government file… well, Ryan is your answer.

Raised with the idea that skin should be hidden, covered, double-covered, and ideally triple-checked, Ryan spent most of his early years wrapped up like a Christmas present nobody was allowed to open. But here’s the twist: from age 15, he started escaping into nature every chance he got, horseback rides into the mountains, weekends exploring valleys and forests, and long, quiet moments where the universe whispered, “Hey… you know you can just be, right?”

And slowly, something shifted.

Through years of self-healing, self-reflection, and some very honest conversations with himself (and maybe a tree or two), Ryan realised he felt most connected when he was simply… himself. No layers. No shame. No beliefs telling him the human body was something to fear or hide. Just skin, earth, sunlight, wind, and a remarkable sense of belonging.

Turns out, the universe doesn’t care about fashion.
Or labels.

Or whether your socks match.

It cares about authenticity, and Ryan embraced that wholeheartedly.

Today, Ryan is the walking (sometimes hiking, sometimes biking, occasionally climbing) embodiment of a free spirit. He believes the human body is a living, breathing piece of the universe, not something to judge, but something to honour. He sees nature as the greatest teacher, the wilderness as the perfect therapist, and clothing as… well, optional, really.

But don’t worry, he won’t pressure you into anything. Ryan is all about comfort, safety, respect, and good humour. In fact, he will probably be the first one to joke about how he went from “buttoned-up and spiritually terrified” to “guy who leads clothing-optional wilderness adventures for a living.”

And somehow… it all makes perfect sense.

With Ryan as your guide, you’re not just exploring trails, you’re exploring yourself.
You’re not just stepping into the wilderness, you’re stepping into freedom.
You’re not just showing up, you’re tuning into your purpose, your expression, and your connection to the universe.

He’s the heart of Naked Expressions, the soul of our adventures, and quite possibly the most grounded free spirit you’ll ever meet.

Ten Fun(ish), Wild(ish), and Mostly True Facts About Ryan

1. He once got arrested on Mount Everest…

…with clothes on, surprisingly. You thought this was another “nude Ryan” story, didn’t you?
Nope — this one was about exposing (not that kind of exposing) unsafe mountaineering shortcuts used by big expedition companies. He wasn’t sentenced, but he was banned

from climbing any Himalayan peak for 10 years. The ban is almost up.

Everest is nervous.

2. He tracked the Himalayan wolf — mostly naked, naturally.

After 2.5 months wandering around at 6,500 meters, freezing, meditating, and probably confusing passing yaks, he finally found one of the world’s most elusive species. Scientists applauded. Locals shrugged. The wolves remained unimpressed. (Source - https://nepalitimes.com/banner/crying-wolf)

3. He also tracked the last free-roaming Knysna elephant — again, mostly nude.

Twelve weeks alone in the Knysna forest. One human. One elephant. Zero clothing.
He captured one of the rarest videos of the creature ever recorded.
David Attenborough has entered the chat.

4. At 23, he directed his first feature film — which flopped… beautifully.

Call it school fees. Call it character building. Call it “the universe’s editing notes.”
Since then, he’s made three more feature films — two distributed, one sunk by COVID.
He still swears the cancelled one was his “Titanic,” minus the iceberg.

5. He created “Clockwork Orange” — not the movie, the humanitarian group.

It focuses on cultural value, environmental ethics, and global wellness.
Basically: fixing the world, one awkward conversation at a time.

6. He’s spent 35 years in the bush — mostly without pants.

Ranger, filmmaker, anti-poaching leader, environmentalist, conservation consultant…
He’s basically a National Geographic episode, but with more breeze.

7. He once crossed the entire United States by bicycle — 4,500 miles in 54 days.

Alone. Unsupported. For mental-health awareness and film fundraising.
He beat his timeline by 11 days, which is both inspiring and suspicious.
Some say he was chased by a goose. He will neither confirm nor deny.

8. He adopted a 13-year-old boy through his Ubuntu Youth Outreach program.

Zian, orphaned during the program, was taken in by

Ryan without

hesitation. He starts anti-poaching school in early 2026.
Not all heroes wear capes. Some don’t wear… well… much at all.

9. He’s a diver who does wear a wetsuit — because sharks.

Even Ryan has limits.
If there’s any place he’ll keep the “dangly bits”

away from predators, it’s the ocean.Smart man.

10. He’s trying to buy a 90-foot steel-hull ketch for his 54-part series “Global Odyssey.”

Because why wouldn’t a clothing-optional conservationist-filmmaker-humanitarian-bushman need a giant ocean vessel?
The boat awaits him in Greece.
All he needs is €380,000 and a universe that continues to say, “Go on then, Ryan — see what happens.”
